Checkups & Cleanings
A thorough exam and a professional cleaning, twice a year, is still the single best thing you can do for a healthy smile.
Book Appointment
A routine checkup and cleaning is the foundation everything else in dentistry builds on. During your visit, Dr. Arvilli examines your teeth, gums, bite, and jaw for early signs of trouble, while our hygienists remove the plaque and tartar buildup that brushing and flossing at home can't fully reach.
Most cavities, gum disease, and bite problems are far easier — and far less expensive — to treat when they're caught early. That's the real value of keeping a regular six-month rhythm, even when nothing feels wrong.

FAQ
Questions about checkups & cleanings
How often should I get a cleaning?
Most patients do best with a cleaning every six months, though some benefit from more frequent visits depending on gum health, tartar buildup, or a history of cavities.
Will my insurance cover it?
Most dental plans cover one or two preventive cleanings per year at little to no cost. Our team verifies your specific benefits before your visit so there are no surprises.
Is the cleaning painful?
No — routine cleanings are generally comfortable. If you have sensitive teeth or gums, let us know beforehand and we'll adjust our technique and pacing.
How long does a checkup and cleaning take?
Most visits run 45 to 60 minutes, including the exam, cleaning, and any X-rays that are due.
What happens if you find a cavity during my checkup?
We'll show you exactly what we found, explain your options, and schedule a separate appointment to treat it — cleanings and treatment are kept as two visits so neither feels rushed.
Do I still need cleanings if I brush and floss well?
Yes. Even excellent home care can't remove hardened tartar or reach every surface, and a cleaning also lets us catch issues — like an early cavity or gum recession — well before you'd feel them.
