Will the extraction hurt?
The area is fully numbed beforehand, so you shouldn't feel pain during the procedure — some soreness afterward is normal and manageable with standard pain relief.
How long does healing take?
Initial healing takes about a week, with the socket fully healing over the following few weeks.
Do I need to replace the tooth?
It depends on the tooth's location and role in your bite — we'll discuss whether an implant, bridge, or partial makes sense, or whether replacement isn't necessary.
What can I eat after an extraction?
Stick to soft foods and lukewarm liquids for the first day or two, avoiding the extraction site while it begins to heal, then gradually return to a normal diet.
What is dry socket and how do I avoid it?
Dry socket happens when the healing blood clot is dislodged too early — avoiding straws, smoking, and vigorous rinsing for the first few days significantly lowers the risk.
Can I drive myself home after an extraction?
If you only receive local anesthetic, yes. If you opt for sedation, you'll need someone to drive you home — we'll go over this with you when scheduling.
